Internship / Volunteers' Programme

Bamboo and Rattan-based Livelihood Generation and Economic Development
The Centre for Indian Bamboo Resource and Technology is a non-profit company set up to promote the bamboo sector in India for social, economic and environmental benefits.
One of the main problems faced in rural India is that of income and employment generating opportunities. In several regions a degraded natural environment and a reduced natural resource capital further reduce the benefits that accrue from agriculture. There are few opportunities for setting up rural enterprises that generate large-scale employment.
Bamboo is one grass that offers a solution for several problems that face rural India. In almost all states, barring Jammu & Kashmir, bamboo can be found. The USP of bamboo is that it offers several employment opportunities right from generating the resource, to its primary processing and making diverse final products. As if by default, bamboo is excellent for environment protection given its soil binding and water capturing properties.
Centre for Indian bamboo Resource & Technology (CIBART) undertakes several activities ranging from awareness raising and training to policy research and project implementation. CIBART firmly believes that approaches to rural community development need a market approach and works along those lines.
In order to bridge the awareness gap, increase knowledge and develop a youth cadre to make bamboo use a movement, CIBART offers Internship/Volunteer Programmes for 1-3 months for graduate, post-graduate students, and Professionals.
