Concept
Disposable cutlery is usually made of plastic. When simply and esthetic
produced, disposable bamboo cutlery has a market potential. In the popular
‘healthy take-away food’ sector, like salad bars, bamboo cutlery fits in
the concept of ‘healthy food, healthy earth’. Airline companies are also
a potential user of bamboo cutlery in airplanes (light weight!). Awareness
of the environment is a popular subject for big companies.
Disposable cutlery has to be cheap.
This design consists of one standard form of a flat triangle slat. This
triangle can be finished into a knife, fork and spoon. In this way, an easy
production chain can be formed.
When stacked, the forms make a nice and small package. This packaging can
be done in the CFC with cheap, indigenous textile and a simple strap of
bamboo. A brand on each piece gives the cutlery a high end image.
Specifications
Every piece of the set should have the same height and thickness. The knife
has to be really sharp (which is possible) and the cutting blade equally
sanded.
Developing ideas
Ratan did not try to reach a 2mm. thickness. It might look better. To make
the fork symmetrical, a jig has to be made.
