Concept
The natural form of bamboo is a tube. In this product this tube-form is
used to surround a tea-light. Because it’s hard to find the exact bamboo
to hold the candle right, a long slat goes through the tubes to form a bamboo
construction. No glue or any joinery is needed. The user can vary the position
of each tube and move the candle holder by grabbing the slat. You will not
burn your fingers that way. The bended version stands on its center of gravity.
That gives a balancing effect.
Specifications
The tubes have to be cut equally and in the same height.
All tubes of one candle holder must be taken from the same bamboo piece.
The sections are very important. A holder for the bamboo is needed to cut
it well. The bended version is more difficult. The bent is done by a jig,
but it changes with the weather.
Developing ideas
The slat can be painted as seen in the picture. Many variations
are possible with this concept. Solutions have to be found for the changing
bent.
