Concept

By putting a hot, metal stamp against bamboo, you can create a natural ‘brand mark’. This gives the possibility to mark a range of products. On the other hand you can show who is the designer of that particular product. A logo makes a product more complete. I designed a range of logos to test in bamboo; the bamboo leaf for general INBAR products, de bamboo cross-cut (with or without name) and my personal logo (EJL).

Specifications

The logos with equal lines come out the best. With an electrical heating method, it will be easier to control the branding.

Developing ideas

It would be nice to try out cutting with metal forms. A whole piece of bamboo can be punched out. The traditional block printing designs for textile are very nice to use in metal, to decorate bamboo (flat surface).
